Errors and status codes

What each response code means and what to do about it.

Every endpoint responds with JSON on failure as well as on success, so you can parse the body either way. The status code tells you whether the request was malformed, out of range, or failed server-side.

Status codes

200 OK

The request succeeded and the body carries the result.

400 Bad request

A required parameter is missing or not numeric, for example a lat/lon that cannot be parsed.

404 Not found

The coordinates fall outside the project area of interest, or the crop / section name is not one we publish.

500 Server error retryable

A raster read or database query failed. Transient in most cases; retry after a short wait.

Error body

Failures carry a short message describing the problem.
