Why a national digital soil map?

Soil-testing facilities are scarce in Nepal, so farmers cannot know the fertilizer requirement of their own land and government cannot plan at national scale. NARC's National Soil Science Research Center built this Digital Soil Map with USAID's Nepal Seed & Fertilizer project, implemented by CIMMYT, to close that gap.
